Questions and answers of the customers

  1. A No, we can’t support the 735XT watch because, despite it supporting ConnectIQ data fields, it doesn’t allow data fields to use BLE and that’s how our connection between the watch and goggles works. You can still use the goggles on their own in open water. This lets you track your time and real time stroke rate while you swim, and if you have the Polar Verity Sense or OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim.
  2. A Using the app is free. If you would like to access Workouts, then you can sign up for membership through the app. We have a limited time offer for the plans- annual plan is at $9.99USD per month (with the year paid in one payment) or monthly is at $14.99USD. We also have a 30 day free trial for everyone!
  3. A We're sorry to hear that you are having issues with the goggles leaking at the outer edges. The goggles were designed to be hydrodynamic and to fit most adult faces. Have you tried out all the nose bridges and adjusting the head strap? We recommend to try all nose bridges, sometimes it's the size you least expect that fits best. Usually changing the nose bridge and adjusting the strap resolves leaking issues. You can also check that the eye seals are still properly attached since they are held in place only using tension. If you see a gap between the lens and the eye seal, you can push the eye seal back into the groove with your fingernail.FORM Support
  4. A Not at all! You do NOT need a subscription at all to access lap swimming, distance, times, intervals etc. These goggles are an amazing piece of technology - I would highly recommend them to everyone
  5. A kinky ... I like it!Sure, you can.
  6. A You can purchase one from Amazon by visiting our Amazon store or searching "FORM charging cable"!
  7. A Just fine. As long as you're swimming in water it will work.
  8. A It should take roughly an hour to charge the goggles to 80% from 0%.
  9. A It’s supposed to work for all styles but we found it didn’t track laps as well as expected even for freestyle and backstroke. The display and info was outstanding - if they can get the lap count and pace data more accurate it will be well worth the money.
  10. A FORM Smart Swim Goggles are explicitly prohibited by USA Swimming (and FINA). 102.8.1.E "No swimmer is permitted to wear or use any device, substance or swimsuit to help his/her speed, pace, buoyancy or endurance during a race".
  11. A The battery itself cannot be replaced. The battery should last a very long time though and we encourage swimmers to reach out to our Support team if they have any issues.
  12. A No, it can connect with some compatible Garmin and Apple Watches for open water swimming. You can also export your swims to services like Strava, TrainingPeaks, Apple Health etc.
  13. A If set to an unknown pool length, the goggles track time, number of lengths, split time and calories. If your pool is shorter than 16.5 yards or 15 meters, you can also use the goggles Swim Spa mode. This lets you track your time, real-time stroke rate and calories.
  14. A Yes, the goggles can connect via the FORM Swim App to Samsung phones with Android version 6.0 or higher.
  15. A It comes with it's own charger and case as well as additional nose clips. It does not come with the heart monitor but does have the heart monitor clip holder attached.
  16. A If you are swimming in one of our partner swim spas (Jacuzzi swim spas: PowerActive, PowerPro. Hydropool swim spas: Sport, AquaTrainer, Executive. ThermoSpas swim spas: Platinum, Diamond. Swimlife swim spas: Fit, Expert) then you can select the speed you are swimming at and you will see distance information in the goggles, along with time. If it's another brand of swim spa, you would see time and real time stroke rate.
  17. A Yes, you can select a clock/timer as one of the metrics displayed in the goggles during your swim. In the app you can choose which metrics to display during your swim. The goggles display three different screens - while swimming, turning and resting - and you can change the metrics for each of them to include the timer.
  18. A Rest assured, a fitness tracker or smartwatch is not required to use the goggles. The goggles work great in the pool on their own. They track and display your metrics (including stroke rate, stroke count, distance, number of lengths, distance per stroke and pace) and sync your metrics with a phone or tablet. You can also use the goggles on their own in open water. This lets you track your time and real time stroke rate while you swim. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim.In both the pool and open water, you can also connect the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor to monitor your heart rate in real time.
  19. A The lenses are not polarized, but they are mirrored with a light grey tint for comfort. Furthermore, the display brightness can be adjusted for different light situations. The lenses also have the same permanent, chemical-resistant anti-fog that’s used in diving masks.
  20. A If you are using a snorkel, the head movement will be minimal so the goggles may think you are resting. You can use drills mode for most modified exercises but if the goggles do not detect head movement, they will lapse into rest.
  21. A Once you have saved and quit the swim, you can hold down the front button for 3-5 seconds to turn off the goggles. Once you are ready to sync your swim, open the app on your phone when you have internet access and turn on the goggles so that the swim syncs across.
  22. A Email them. I had questions about getting started & learning how to get info from the goggles to my phone. They were quite responsive.
  23. A The goggles cannot display direction or compass heading. We'll pass your suggestion to the product team, though!
  24. A Sorry but we just have the one size of model. We do provide seven nose bridge sizes and a fully adjustable strap to help with fit, though!
  25. A Not me. Maybe I am not nerdy enough. The googles really do help me focus on bench marking my sub times and each lap as I swim a mile.
  27. A The reason we can’t support the 935 is that despite it supporting ConnectIQ data fields, it doesn’t allow data fields to use BLE and that’s how our connection between the watch and goggles works. You can still use the goggles on their own in open water. This lets you track your time and real time stroke rate while you swim, and if you have the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim.
  28. A The FORM goggles were built to last a long time with the right care. We recommend rinsing the goggles thoroughly after each use then leaving them to air dry before storing them in the case. We don't recommend touching or wiping the inside of the lenses so as to avoid scratching the lens or disrupting the anti fog coating. We do also sell replacement non-display lenses.
  29. A The display can be worn over either eye. Per default it is set to the right eye but you can change it to the left eye in the goggles directly or in the app.
  30. A As it stand right now, pool swim reads heart rate only from Polar OH heart rate sensor. Open water swimming mode only reads heart rate from Garmin(approved list) or Apple Watch(3 and above). The Garmin hrm straps are Ant+ and can only transmit about an inch or two. In open water the watches can transmit when the watch goes above water and the Form receive side is above water. In future I could see Form allowing wrist optical heart rate from watch during pool swimming.
  31. A You can connect a smartwatch, including the Apple Watch 5, for open water swims but not for pool swims. Calories (as well as many other metrics) can be recorded and displayed by the goggles alone in a pool. If you wish to see heart rate in the pool, you can connect a Polar OH1/OH1 + in the mounting clip we provide for the goggles strap.
  32. A Sorry to hear that! We take quality very seriously and want you to have a pair of goggles you love. Please reach out to us directly so we can help you with this issue!
  33. A The length of life of the anti-fog depends on the level of care the goggles receive. We recommend always rinsing them with clean cool water after use and storing them in their case when dry to ensure the longest life possible.
  34. A Yes, you can add the length count on the turn screen dashboard! Please contact FORM Support if you need any help setting that up.
  35. A Yes, you can choose heart rate, heart rate zone or heart rate & zone as the bottom metric in your lap swim dashboard. Please reach out to us if you need help setting this up.
  36. A If you are using equipment, such as a snorkel, we recommend using drills mode to record your swim as the goggles are set up to identify the four main swim strokes swum without equipment.
  37. A The goggles detect the four main stroke types: breaststroke, free, back and butterfly. If you swim with your head above water, this will mean that the movement will be harder to detect for the goggles (since they rely on head movement to know what you are doing). If you find this happening, please reach out to the support team for advice.
  38. A The lenses are slightly tinted but they do not have specific coatings for sun glare
  39. A Yes! You can choose that as one if your interval or lap metrics on your dashboard. Please contact us if you’re having trouble finding how to do that!
  40. A Updated response, July 2020: The goggles now support open water swimming. You can connect a compatible smartwatch to see distance, pace and heart rate (if compatibility allows). You can also use the goggles on their own in open water. This lets you track your time and real time stroke rate while you swim, and if you have the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your average stroke rate and calories in the workout summary after you saved your swim.
  42. A The goggles don't come with prescription lenses, sorry! Some of our swimmers need vision correction but are still able to see the metrics as the display is floating in front of your eyes and doesn't need to be focused on.
  43. A The open water features are a software and firmware update to the current model. You would just need to download the latest version of the app and then sync your goggles to the app to update them!
  44. A The minimum pool length is 15m/16.5y. Some swimmers use the goggles in smaller pools by setting their pool length as "unknown." This lets you track your time while you swim, and if you have the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your split time when you turn and your rest time and calories when you rest.
  45. A Although you wouldn't be able to get distance data, since you are not swimming laps, some of our swimmers use the goggles in endless pools or with a tether by setting their pool length as "unknown." This lets you track your time while you swim, and if you have the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your rest time and calories when you rest.
  46. A The goggles are compatible with Polar OH1/OH1 + heart rate monitors. Once we launch the new open water features, if you pair a compatible watch that has heart rate capabilities, you'll also be able to see that in the goggles.
  47. A Yes! The goggles are waterproof and can be used up to a depth of 10m.
  48. A The display is floating out in front of your eyes so you don't need to focus on it. A lot of our swimmers need vision correction and are still able to see the display clearly!
  49. A Yes, you can! When you go to set up the swim dashboard, you can instead toggle it off so that you only see the dashboard when turning or resting.
  50. A I have not experienced any issues. Still not 100% accurate but pretty good. On average is 10 to 5% lower than actual. Make sure you keep the sensor close to the from on/off switch. It has to touch the skin (no cap or hair obstructing)
  51. A The goggles are built for pool training. Some swimmers still use the goggles in endless pools by setting their pool length as "unknown." This lets you track your time while you swim, and if you have the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your time, stroke rate/count, and calories when you rest.
  52. A Yes! Whether you are doing laps, intervals or drills, you will see the total time and distance in the app, and also broken down by swim mode.
  53. A I have had a bad experience with these goggles. The inside foam came out and it cannot he back in so these are basically worthless now.
  54. A If you are doing kick drills, you can use 'drills mode' on the goggles. This will allow you to see the time as you swim then, at the end, you'll see the distance and can adjust it as needed.
  55. A Some of our users jump off the block with the goggles and have a great experience. However, our goggles work best when you push off the wall, and we don’t officially recommend diving with them.
  56. A The charging cable we supply has a USB port so can be plugged into a computer USB or an adapter for wall charging.
  57. A The goggles are designed for pool training, and they don't measure distance. For pool use, you would enter the pool size and the goggles would count how many laps you do (thereby calculating distance). Some swimmers still use the goggles in open water by setting their pool length as "unknown." This lets you track your time while you swim, and if you have the Polar OH1/OH1 + sensor, you can monitor your heart rate in real time. You would also be able to review your time, stroke rate/count, and calories when you rest.
  58. A The screen can only be seen by the wearer of the goggles, it cannot be viewed from the other side of the lens.
  59. A I read new shipments will come with a clip; if you have one without contact Form customer service and they’ll set you up.
  60. A Hola Desconozco si hay ampliación de la garantía
  61. A The display is daylight readable and the brightness can be adjusted for indoor and outdoor pools.
  62. A Thanks for your question - apologies for the delayed response, this didn't show up in our Seller Central. We have a one year warranty for manufacturing defects, so the customer can reach out to us through our site or through Amazon for help. We also have replacement parts available for anyone who breaks or misplaces a part of the goggles. We stand behind the quality of our goggles and we have lots of happy customers! You can check out the reviews on our site, too! - FORM Support
  63. A If the goggles leak, it’s likely that the fit isn’t quite right. In this case, we recommend swapping out the nose bridge for a different size, or adjusting the strap for a more snug fit. For spare parts, we will soon have them available to purchase on our site, in case of breakage or loss. The warranty covers any manufacturing defect for one year from ship date.
  64. A The goggles work using a gyroscope and an ultra-compact onboard computer to understand and interpret a swimmer's movements. If the timer is continuing to count, this means the goggles are still detecting movement. We recommend making sure that your son makes sure to stop moving when he is resting, so that the goggles detect a rest and stop the swim timer. We also replied to your private message about this, so please let us know if you have any further questions!
  65. A The warranty offered through the manufacturer (FORM) covers manufacturing defects for one year from the ship date. Amazon may offer something outside of these parameters, but we recommend checking with them for more details.
  66. A The goggles are not able to hold a prescription lens. If you are able to see the pool without vision correction, you will also be able to see the metrics. However, if you need vision correction for swimming, the goggles would not be able to be adapted to your required prescription. We have many users who need vision correction and are able to see the metrics just fine though!
  67. A Heart rate support will be launched early December and will be compatible with this model - it will just be a software update. To use heart rate monitoring, you will need a Polar OH1 or OH1 + which will attach to the goggle strap with a special clip. The clip can be requested through our website once the feature is launched.
  68. A The new heart rate feature is being released early December! This will be in partnership with Polar and their OH1 and OH1 + heart rate monitors.
  69. A The pace per 50 or 100 is calculated for the previous length (or current interval for intervals mode). Any kind of turn is detected by the goggles - not just tumble turns! Hope this helps!
